The Honky Tonk in Dendermonde has been a jazz lovers hotspot for years. Artists from at home and abroad have given unforgettable performances in the atmospheric rooms of the old town wall. Toots Thielemans, Ray Charles, Dana Gillespie, BB King, Chuck Berry, Curtis Mayfield and many others have performed in this great venue. The jazz club is well known for its exclusive bunker concerts.
Housed in a beautiful building from 1829 situated just in front of the Honky Tonk Jazz Club is the Jazz Centre Flanders. It is a visitors centre focused on jazz where exhibitions, readings, small concerts and jazz workshops are organised. This building is definitely worth a visit, especially if the visit is wrapped up with a drink on their cosy patio.
